2013 RFPs for the UM-SJTU Collaboration for funding in energy and biomedical technology Due: April 12, 2013

Funded Areas

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) offers support for research, scholarship, and creative activities in all fields.

Eligible to apply: Instructional Faculty, Research Faculty, Research Scientists, Librarians, Curators, and Archivists.

NOT eligible: Research Investigators, Postdoctoral students, Research Fellows, Lecturers, graduate and undergraduate students.

Applications are reviewed by peer faculty. OVPR's intent is to:

  • Help support areas of research and scholarship where external funds are scarce or unavailable.
  • Assist in maintaining the base activities of high-quality projects between funding cycles
  • Cost share for equipment and infrastructure on sponsored activity
  • Seed novel, high-risk, innovative, inter-unit projects
  • Assist with colloquia, symposia, and other events that promote the evolution of new research ideas and collaborations.
  • Assist junior faculty in establishing new research programs

♦ Small Scale and Preliminary Projects

Facilitate high-quality work, especially to leverage support from the colleges, schools, or departments for such work or where funding is limited or non-existent. The OVPR award limit is $15,000.

Small contributions to support conferences, symposia, or workshops to address research issues and research frontiers. The OVPR limit is $2500.
