See the UM Human Resources web pages, Graduate Student Research Assistantship Program, for detailed information on GSRA policies and procedures.
To ensure compliance with federal requirements, Graduate Student Research Assistants must certify to their efforts charged to sponsored projects. Effort certification is an electronic statement signed by the GSRA verifying that work was performed and that the percent effort for a given period is accurate and reasonable in relation to the work performed.
In general, individuals who are required to certify effort use the self-service feature of M-Pathways to certify their own effort distribution online. The self-service feature replaces the paper-based Effort Certification process that was used in previous years.
Any subsequent cost disallowance due to non-certification must be borne by the appointing department/unit.
