Award Notification
Basic Definition
An Award Notification email is sent to the principal investigator and the post-award administrative contact when a project/grant (P/G) number is established for a sponsored award.
Why It's Important
The Award Notification email includes information such as:
- Awarded amount
- Project/Grant number and Shortcode
- Project period and budget period dates
- Funding (direct costs, F&A costs)
- Cost sharing, if any
- Any special terms and conditions (e.g., E-Verify)
- Short-term restrictions on specific research activities (e.g., hold on human subjects work pending IRB approval)
How to Comply
After receiving the Award Notification, the project team can typically start spending on the project provided that the spending occurs within the project period start and end dates.
