Conferences/Scientific Meetings: If the conference is to discuss the results of organized research projects, then the on-campus organized research subclass, 22000, is appropriate. If the conference is part of another program, then use the same subclass the program uses. For example, the Conference for Young Scientists is considered part of their research training activity so the appropriate subclass is 16000, which is the one used for research training grants. However, if the conference is not part of another program, then normally it is considered an Other Sponsored Activity, subclass 31000, and the Other Sponsored Activity indirect cost rate is applied.
