Federated Login Recommended
U-M staff and faculty can use their Duo two-factor authentication (2FA) through the University of Michigan to log in to eRA or NIH Commons in the Federated Login area.
U-M is a member of the InCommon Federation which provides this efficient and secure option. You'll see the "Federated Account" option on federal sponsor login pages (like Research.gov, or eRA Commons).
When you see the option for a Federated Login, select the University of Michigan from the list of institutions or universities. You'll then be prompted to log in using your U-M 2FA. Confirm.
Using this option can:
- Reduce administrative burden.
- Reduce risk.
- Prevents you from having to remember or store multiple passwords
- Ease your work through maintaining a single sign-on in different sessions (e.g. WolverineAccess, UMich Mail, NIH, etc.)
