The Research Administration Mentoring Program is a unique mentoring program for research administrators. Individuals involved in this program will have an opportunity to build important relationships within the University of Michigan and enhance their professional growth.

We are pleased to announce that the application period is now open for the ninth cohort of the Research Administration Mentoring Program (RAMP↑).

Time commitment requirements:

  • A minimum of one hour, of virtual or in-person communication per month from October 2024 through July 2025.
  • We will conduct an orientation session virtually in September to prepare mentors and mentees for their time in the program.

Experience: To work toward inclusion across the range of expertise within the research administration community, there are no minimum years’ experience required to join either the mentor or mentee cohorts in RAMP↑.

Application process: Prospective mentors and mentees are required to fill out one of the following applications linked below as well as submit a one-page letter of support from their direct supervisor.

Deadline: The deadline for mentor and mentee applications, which must include a one-page letter of support from the applicant’s direct supervisor, is 5 pm on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Guidance on Letters of Support:

  • The supervisor's letter of support for mentees should:
    • explain how participation in RAMP↑ will benefit the applicant in their career, beyond skills training that may be available elsewhere at U-M.
    • commit the supervisor to providing the time needed to successfully satisfy the RAMP↑ expectations of meeting with the selected mentor at least monthly, from October 2024 through July 2025.
       
  • The supervisor’s letter of support for mentors should:
    • detail the qualities the applicant possesses that will be most beneficial to help their selected mentee develop professionally.
    • commit the supervisor to providing the time needed to successfully satisfy the RAMP↑ expectations of meeting with the selected mentee at least monthly, from October 2024 through July 2025.
