  • Day 1: Wednesday, March 6, 2024

  • Day 2: Wednesday, March 13, 2024
    Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Attendance at both Day 1 and Day 2 sessions is required. Participants who attend both sessions and complete the course requirements will receive a Certificate of Achievement available in My LINC.

Requirements for Participation

  • Obtain supervisor approval
  • Attend both Day 1 and Day 2 sessions
  • Complete a post-course evaluation

Target Audience

The Navigate: Subs of All Kinds course is recommended for research administrators (RAs) and others with limited knowledge about or experience with sponsored subawards and subprojects.

We will conduct the course virtually through two half-day Zoom sessions. Course materials will be available in Canvas.

Course Content

The course introduces participants to the various “subs” involved in sponsored research administration (e.g., subaward, subrecipient, subcontract, SubK, subproject, etc.). Through instructor presentations, class discussions and activities, participants will learn about:

  • Differences among the various types of subs;
  • How to distinguish between subawards, hybrid POs, and POs;
  • The roles and responsibilities of RAs and central offices related to subs in the pre- and post-award phases of the project lifecycle;
  • Key requirements for establishing foreign subawards;
  • Steps involved in setting up, monitoring, and closing out subawards;
  • Requirements and processes related to setting up, monitoring, and closing out subprojects.

Course Fee

The course fee is temporarily waived.
