Plan Ahead for U-M End-of-Year Season Days and Closings

For ORSP and Sponsored Programs

This time of year brings season days and year-end events, for which we are grateful. It also means increased activity and a shorter working period to conduct business. ORSP, Sponsored Programs, and U-M will close for the holiday and season days from December 25, 2023, through Monday, January 1, 2024. We will welcome the new year on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Important Proposal Submission Deadline Policy Reminders from ORSP:

Office closings will impact whether your proposal receives a Full Review, a Limited Review, or is At Risk.

Sample scenario: A proposal is due to the sponsor on Monday, January 1, 2024 (or as early as Friday, December 22, 2023, at 5 pm).

  • For a Full Review, that proposal is now due to ORSP by Monday, December 18, 2023, at 5 pm. 
  • For a Limited Review, that proposal is now due to ORSP by Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 9 am.
  • Proposals arriving in ORSP after those dates are At Risk and may not be submitted. 

Review the Proposal Submission Deadline Policy, utilize the PAF and Proposal Checklist, and reference the Calendar Examples of Deadline Policy to work through your scenarios.

We encourage U-M research project teams to plan proposal submissions appropriately based on the deadline policy. Please submit and/or resolve any pressing issues as early as possible.

ORSP will welcome the new year and reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Submit FSRs to Sponsored Programs by December 14, 2023


Sponsored Programs needs Financial Status Reports (FSRs) earlier. Please be prepared to submit FSRs by Thursday, December 14, 2023. We have 2,504 to complete by the end of the calendar year.
